I booked a day trip to Venice – flights were just £15 and we gorged on gelato and Aperol Spritz | The Sun

A WOMAN has revealed how she and a friend booked a day trip to Venice, spending just £15 each on flights.

The pair spent the day sightseeing, drinking Aperol Spritzes and eating gelato as part of their whirlwind adventure in the Italian city.

Cat Astier (@catastier) and her friend Maxime O'Malley took the opportunity to head to the holiday hotspot when they found cheap flights online.

In a video on Tiktok, Cat showed how the pair spent their time, visiting bars, ornate churches and walking the city's famous streets, picking up snacks along the way.

She captioned it: "This is your sign to book a £15 one day trip to Venice with your bestie."

She claimed the pair completed the trip "all in 12 hours".

A third added: "What time was your flight and back, trying to plan this?"

Cat isn't the only person to fly to Italy for a day out.

After flying from Dublin to visit her long-distance boyfriend in Malta, Katie Nolan was shocked to see that a return flight home would cost £214.

Instead, she decided to take a five-hour stop off in Pisa, which significantly reduced her travel costs.

Katie said: "I was visiting my long-distance boyfriend in Malta. A flight from Malta to Dublin cost more than €250 (£214).

"But flying from Malta to Pisa and staying for five hours to see the leaning tower, eat pizza and then fly back to Dublin was cheaper."

Elsewhere, Callum Ryan headed to Milan to save money on a pizza.

He said he paid just £8 for a last-minute plane ticket from London Stansted.

He then went to a local restaurant, where he paid just €8.50 (£7.50) for a margarita pizza and another €2.50 (£2.22) for service charge.

Adding that to the flight, it meant he paid just £17.72 – cheaper than a medium Domino's pizza which costs £19.99.
