I had to fork out £3k EXTRA on my hen do after EasyJet cancelled flight to Cyprus AND the return journey home TWICE

A DEVASTATED bride-to-be was furious that she was forced to fork out an extra £3k on her hen do after EasyJet cancelled BOTH their flights.

Cerise Brown, 28, along with four friends and her mum were excited to be jetting off Cyprus ahead of her wedding in July.

But her dream celebration turned into a nightmare after EasyJet suddenly cancelled their flight from Gatwick last Tuesday, forcing them to fork out on new flights with BA.

Cerise, from Milton Keynes, Bucks, had to cancel a party boat and a trip to a water park that the group had already paid for.

The group had paid for the entirety ofthe trip, which cost £3,600, before having to pay more on top of it.

Their trip went from bad to worse after they were stranded in the airport on the way back for hours, with EasyJet cancelling two more flights.

Chaos as flights cancelled after 8-hour wait and holidays ruined via TEXT

We slept on the floor of Gatwick after our EasyJet flight was cancelled TWICE

Mum-of-two Cerise told The Sun: “We checked in at Gatwick and got an email saying that our flight had been cancelled.

“We were shocked, and the next thing we were told was that we had to collect our cases, no one told us anything else.

“The information desk just told us to come back when we could get another flight. I was obviously gutted, I didn’t want to miss my hen do and we managed to book another flight.

“The flight and a hotel obviously cost us more money, and when we did get to Cyprus we were in Paphos and had to get a €200 taxi to our new hotel.

“We had a great time on the actual hen do, we had to pay more money out of our own pockets but the main thing was we got there.

“But the trip back was a nightmare, so we checked out and went to the airport. We checked in again and then the flight was delayed.

“Honestly I just thought oh god here we go again. The next thing we know is it’s cancelled, and we’re being piled onto a bus with loads of other families.

“The hotel that they put us in was awful, my mum who is 61 was forced to sleep on a mattress on the floor.

“It was filthy, there was no air con, no food and there were children there as well. The whole thing was just awful.

“We went back the next day, and the same thing happened. It was cancelled again after saying it was delayed by a few hours.

“At this point we just wanted to go home and it was so draining.”

'TOTAL NIGHTMARE'

The hen party eventually managed to get back to Gatwick two days after their original flights, and have not received an apology from the airline.

Cerise’s mum, who suffers from diabetes, was also terrified that she would run out of her medication if they were unable to get a flight.

She added: “At the end of the day you only get married once so I wanted to do my hen do.

“But honestly I would never travel with EasyJet again. I had wanted to take my kids away when I was back but I just don’t want to now.

“The whole thing puts you off travelling abroad, I’d rather go to a caravan!”

It comes after the company announced that more than 200 flights would be cancelled in the next ten days.

They said its cancellations would affect about 24 flights per day from London's Gatwick airport between May 28 and June 6.

The move is sure to cause travel chaos for holidaymakers hoping to get away for the half-term break.

EasyJet will be operating around 1,700 flights per day still – with around a quarter to and from Gatwick.

It comes after 200 flights were cancelled on Thursday due to an IT glitch.

Many passengers fumed they were stranded abroad due to the chaos.
