A FLIGHT attendant has revealed a hotel hack which has saved him from a lot of embarrassment.
John Chesire explained the clever thing he does with the lock on a hotel door when he steps outside the room.
He revealed that he opens the door and flips the lock open so the latch is sticking out, keeping the door from shutting.
The latch holds the door open so if John steps out for just a moment, the door can't shut behind him and lock him out.
He took to question and answer site Quora to share his advice.
He wrote: "The great invention of the inside door latch has saved many from embarrassment.
"Instead of using it to lock the door on the inside, you flip it over and the door is open, blocking the door from fully closing."
John explained that some of his colleagues have had to make an embarrassing walk down to the hotel's reception to get a new key – while half-naked.

He continued: "More than one flight attendant or pilot has had their hotel room door accidentally close and lock behind them, [for example] in the morning when you step outside your hotel room to steal the newspaper across the hallway.
"You then hope a maid with a key is on the floor nearby.
"Otherwise you have to go down to the front desk for a key, naked of half-naked and with no ID."
