A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the safety routine she follows whenever she checks into a hotel – and she has urged other females to do the same.
Visiting different countries can be scary for some people but there are ways for them to feel less threatened about their trips.
One cabin crew member explained that her fear comes from experience, after people attempted to break into her hotel rooms during layovers.
In a video posted to Tiktok, user lifestyledbyerie shows what she does to make sure she's safe every time she checks into a hotel room.
First, Erie is seen propping the door open with her suitcase, so that she can get out quickly if she needs to.
She then checks cupboards and under the bed to make sure no one is waiting for her in her room.

While closing the door, a caption reads: "Safety always comes first.
"I have had people attempt to break into my room on layovers so I always travel with this."
Erie is not the only flight attendant to offer advice regarding hotel room safety.

Whenever she stayed at a hotel, she said she always knocks on the door before entering, even if you think you are the only one with a key card – and use the door chain even when getting changed.
She explained: "I used to be a flight attendant [and] spent more than my fair share of nights alone in hotels.
"It is not uncommon for hotels to accidentally double-book your room.
"I have woken up many times to someone opening my door with an electronic key that was programmed for my room.
"I learned to dress and sleep with the chain on the door at all times.
"I also knocked before trying my key because I have walked in on things I didn’t need to ever see."
