I’m a flight attendant – there’s a drink you should NEVER order on board

THERE'S one drink that you should avoid ordering on a flight, unless you want to become the least favourite passenger.

It turns out people who ask for Diet Coke are the bane of every flight attendant's life, since the nature of the bubbles makes the drink such a hassle to pour.

A flight attendant who goes by the name of Jet revealed on her blog These Gold Wings that it is the one of customer demands that the dread the most as it takes so long to pour due to its fizzy nature.

The drink is especially fizzy in the air because the lower air pressure in the cabin means it is easier for the CO2 to release.

In fact, in the time it takes to pour a single Diet Coke, a flight attendant could have also served three other passengers.

Jet said: “As you may know, the aircraft cabin is not pressurised to sea level, but rather to the equivalent of about seven or eight thousand feet.

“This means some passengers might feel a little light headed or that alcohol affects them almost twice as much as it would on the ground.

“It also means soft drinks foam up a lot more when poured out of a can, and the worst culprit for this is Diet Coke – I literally have to sit and wait for the bubbles to fall before I can continue pouring.

“If all 3 passengers ask for Diet Coke I’ll often get them started, take another three drink orders, serve those, and then finish the Diet Cokes.”

Diet Coke isn't the only drink to avoid on a flight though – according to one cabin crew member it is also wise to swerve the tea and coffee.

The hot water tanks on board a plane are rarely cleaned so the water might not be totally clean, which is the perfect excuse to treat yourself to something stronger.
