NEXT time you are feeling thirsty on a plane, you may want to hold off asking for a cup of water.
Flight attendants have revealed that passengers who ask for the drink are their biggest pet peeve.
Responding to a post on Reddit, the flight crew members revealed that people asking them to refill their personal water bottles is becoming annoyingly common.
One described those passengers as "selfish and cheap" and explained that there is only a certain amount of water on the plane.
They said: "I’m mean. I tell them I can give them a cup of water and they can put that in the bottle themselves and if I have extra water by the time I’m done with service I’ll bring them more.
"It’s so selfish and cheap! Sometimes we are cutting it close with the water and these people want the entire bottle.

"If I have the mini bottles that’s what I give during service to get out of those requests."
Another wrote: "Any time someone would ask me to, I’d fill it halfway depending on the size and tell them I still need water for the rest of the plane."
A third flight attendant questioned the logic behind waiting to get on the plane before asking to have their bottle filled, especially when there are so many chances to do it in the terminal.
They said: "My question is always why didn’t they just fill it in the terminal?

"There are water fountains right near the bathrooms. Lots of places even have water bottle filling stations.

Other flight attendants have previously warned against drinking water on planes, revealing that the tank it's kept in is rarely cleaned.
In a video on TikTok, cabin crew member Cierra Mistt said: “Unless we’re super desperate, we will not drink the coffee or tea that’s supplied on the plane.
“The water that we use for the coffee and the tea come from the same spot, and guess what? It never gets cleaned.
Although the airlines tell passengers that they do “regular water quality tests,” Cierra said this isn’t as frequent as you think.
“We are told that it is about 6-9 months for even one test on one plane to happen, and they’re not going to clean out that tank unless they find something.”
