I'm a security expert and this is how you can tell if your airport queue will be slow

THOUSANDS of Brits have been stuck in huge airport queues in recent days, with many waiting hours and even missing their flights.

But a security expert has explained how you can tell if your queue is going to be slow – so you know to pick the other one.

They explained that you never want to see two security officers at an x-ray machine as that means it'll take longer.

They said: "Often if there is more than one security office at an x-ray machine, there's a chance that one of the employees is a trainee.

"So you could be risking a line that goes a little slower."

A travel expert also shared some tips on how to pick the right queue to get through airport security as quickly as possible.

She wrote on Quora: "The magic to clearing airport security is in being in the right line-up.

"Look at the people in line and choose the line with the most business travellers. These people have airport security clearance down to a fine art."

Her second tip was to avoid any queue that has families with young children in as, unsurprisingly, they'll be the slowest groups.

"They are notoriously, and understandably, slow in sorting their belongings to go through the x-ray machines."

Other travel experts revealed that going left at airport security checks could mean you get through faster.

They said we subconsciously pick which side to line up on depending on our dominant hand, and considering the majority of people are right-handed, the lines on the right will be busier than those on the left.
