Inside remote beach with Hollywood connections you can only reach at certain point of day | The Sun

A BRITISH beach resort favoured by Hollywood stars but only accessible in daylight is getting rave reviews from holiday-makers – but with warnings about getting cut off.

Marloes Sands in Wales is being highlighted as a place to head to this coming summer, even though you can only reach it by foot.

The stunning sandy landscape has a history of featuring on film, including when Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and the Twilight movies’ Kristen Stewart headed there for scenes in 2011’s Snow White And The Huntsman.

Oscar-winning Hollywood legends Katharine Hepburn, Peter O’Toole and Sir Anthony Hopkins also filmed there for 1968’s The Lion In Winter, which won three Academy Awards.

Users of the travel watchdog site TripAdvisor have shown themselves big fans of the place, which has an average rating there of five stars out of five – but warned you could find yourselves left adrift.

People are being told the remote yet tranquil beach is not only accessible just by foot, but only at certain times of day – and when the tide is out.

One visitor raved: “What a beautiful beach! We came on a bank holiday (we're from Kent) and were so surprised that it wasn't busy at all! If it was a Kent beach it would be packed with thousands of people.

“It's a beautiful beach to see from below and above. It's a great walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. We walked along to Gateholm Island as well which is stunning.”

Another said: “Love this beach with its jagged rocks on the beach and cliffs surrounding area.”

Yet another cautioned: “A little bit rough access to the beach but worth it. A beautiful beach and a crystal clear water.”

And another family told of being caught out by the changing conditions.

A reviewer wrote: “We unfortunately got there at high tide and only got half an hour before the whole beach was cut off.

“So please make sure you only go at low tide.

“Very disappointed little boy with us but happy we managed to see some spectacular scenery. Would go back for sure at low tide.”

Approaching the beach provides travellers with the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path loop walk – taking in an iron-age fort, a deer park, and potential sights of wildlife including seabirds, seals and porpoises.

National Trust members get free parking, before any walking – and the Runwayskiln café has been recommended as a nearby stop-off.

Wales has previously been highlighted as a cut-price destination for domestic holiday-makers – with seeing the seal pups of Marloes tipped as a particular incentive to travel.

Nearby Skomer Island – which can be viewed across the picturesque horizon from the Marloes Sands beaches – has also been host to eye-catching puffins, pods of dolphins and an Elvis-impersonating car park attendant.
