Jane McDonald reveals the item she never travels without when going to the US – and it's pretty weird | The Sun

NEXT time you're packing your suitcase, there is one kitchen item you should always make sure to bring with you, according to a well-known TV presenter.

Singer Jane McDonald, who presents Holidaying with Jane McDonald as well as other TV programmes including Loose Women, has revealed why she always packs a kettle in her suitcase.

The travel show presenter was invited onto The One Show, where hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating asked about her holy grail packing.

Jane said: "I take my Yorkshire tea bags! Other tea bags are available, and a kettle.”

The presenters were quick to ask why the singer packed the common kitchen appliance as most hotels and holiday homes often have one.

In response, Jane said: "Not in America they don’t you know.

"They’ve got a lot of coffee machines, they don’t want you to have a kettle in your room.

"They want you to come out and buy it, you see I’m tight, I’m from Yorkshire.

"So I like to take my kettle and even my mug because they all give you these little cups, what’s all that about?"

Meanwhile Henry Golding, who starred in the blockbuster film Crazy Rich Asians always packs hotel slippers in his suitcase because he says hotel and plane floors are too disgusting to walk barefoot on.

Speaking to Bloomberg, he said: "The carpets in most business hotels are just absolutely filthy and disgusting.

"So I would wear my flip-flops everywhere, even in the shower. I either bring the free hotel slippers they give you [at five-star hotels] or a pair of Havaianas or Chacos.

"Trust me, you do not want to see what is on those floors."

And Hollywood star Issa Rae has explained why she always checks hotel wardrobes when she is travelling.
