The company said it would automatically refund all customers affected by the changes.

Jet2 had previously announced a suspension of flights and holidays until late March, but this has now been extended until April 14, the firm said.

A spokesperson said: “Due to the ongoing uncertainty and travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays up to and including 14th April 2021.

“Where customers yet to travel are affected by any programme changes, we will automatically cancel their booking with a full refund.

"We have received praise from customers, consumer organisations, media and independent travel agents for our industry-leading and prompt refunding of over £1bn to customers whose travel plans have been affected by programme changes during the pandemic."

Under current coronavirus regulations, Brits are not allowed to travel abroad for leisure – and must only leave home for exercise, medical reasons or to buy food.

HOLIDAY CRACKDOWN

It comes after the government announced tough new laws on travel in a bid to prevent new Covid strains entering the country.

Matt Hancock today revealed that Brits would be slapped with a fine of up to £10,000 if they escape hotel quarantine before their isolation period is up.

And travellers could even face jail if they lie about their holiday destination.

The Health Secretary also warned that passengers arriving from 'red list' countries will be forced to stay in the hotels for LONGER than 10 days – if they test positive.

All travellers entering the UK will have to take two coronavirus tests while self-isolating, it's been confirmed.

And the entire process – including the two mandatory tests and a quarantine hotel room- will cost arrivals £1,750 each.

People must get a test on day two and day eight of their 10-day quarantine period.

If passengers leave the quarantine hotel before their 10 days are up, they will be handed a £5,000 coronavirus fine.

But this figure can increase up to £10,000, Mr Hancock warned.
