Jet2 cancels more flights this summer | The Sun

JET2 has scrapped a number of routes from the UK this summer.

Flights to Jersey and Amsterdam have been reduced, meaning passengers may find themselves having their flight cancelled.

Flights to Amsterdam from Birmingham and Leeds have been scrapped for July and August.

It comes just days after the airline also confirmed they were scrapping a number of flights to and from Jersey.

Jet2 confirmed that flights to Jersey from Manchester were being suspended, while flights from Birmingham and London Stansted were being reduced.

Flights from East Midlands, Newcastle and Leeds to Jersey will continue this summer.

TUI issues travel update to Brits with cancelled flights

However, the airline has said the flight cancellations are nothing to do with the current travel chaos and to do with a recent review of its schedule.

An Jet2 spokesperson said: “Following the latest review, we have taken the decision, in consultation with Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, to withdraw July and August services to Amsterdam from Birmingham and Leeds Bradford airports.

"Our programme to Amsterdam is scheduled to recommence in September. Where customers are affected, we will contact them to let them know and they will receive a full refund.

"It is important to note that this decision has nothing to do with staff shortages that are currently impacting other airlines, and withdrawn flights were not due to depart until June 30 at the earliest.”

Big mistake you're making if your ears ring on flights – and how to stop it

This is unlike other airlines who have been forced to cancel thousands of flights in recent months.

TUI has been forced to cancel hundreds of flights this month, working out to around six flights a day.

EasyJet has had to cancel hundreds more flights this month and British Airways pre-emptively cancelled 16,000 flights between March and October.

Amidst the latest travel chaos, Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert.com has issued fresh advice to customers that they are due an alternative flight or full refund if their flights have been cancelled or delayed.
