Lesser-known Canary Island gets huge boost with direct BA flights from the UK | The Sun

BRITISH airways has announced new direct flights to the Canary Islands, increasing options for British holidaymakers.

Although technically part of Spain, the Canaries enjoy warm temperatures year round because of their location just off the coast of Morocco.

Every year, more than 12 million UK tourists visit the sunny islands, which are only a four-hour flight away.

During the summer, all the islands have an average temperature of around 25C.

But temperatures can reach highs of 35C during the daytime.

In the winter, temperatures are still warm, with average highs of 21C in January.

Now BA passengers will be able to get direct flights to Fuerteventura from later this year.

The airline announced on their Facebook page that they would be running flights there from London for winter sun getaways.

They wrote: "Fuerteventura has become our fourth destination in the Canary Islands that you can fly to direct from London this winter.

"So if you fancy an island getaway we have plenty of options to choose from."

The flights will be available between November 2023 and March 2024 from £65 each way.

BA recommend looking at spring flights to find cheaper flights.

On their website, they say: "As Fuerteventura experiences warm temperatures all year round, it’s popular for both winter and summer getaways.

"You might find cheaper prices in spring when other parts of Europe begin to heat up, offering more choice for sun seekers."

Currently, British Airways also offer flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Las Palmas.

Fuerteventura will be the fourth Canary Islands offering from the airline.
