Love Island 'set to return' to Majorca as Spain opens borders to Brits from NEXT WEEK without need for covid test

LOVE Island is 'set to return' to Majorca as Spain opens it borders to Brits from next WEEK without need for a Covid test.

Contracts for this year’s show have Majorca written into them, but back-up options were on the table in case travel restrictions meant Spain was off-limits.

However, Spain today announced it let British tourists in from next Monday, paving the way for Love Island to take place in Majorca.

Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez’s confirmation that British holidaymakers can enter the country from Monday means all the travel obstacles have been lifted – but Spain remains on the UK's amber list.

Mr Sanchez said at international trade fair Fitur in Madrid: “I am pleased to inform you that the ministerial order will be officially published today exempting citizens from the UK from temporary restrictions on non-essential trips to Spain.

“I can therefore announce that from next Monday the 24th of May we will be delighted to welcome all UK tourists.

“They are welcome to enter our country without restrictions and without health requirements.”

There has not yet been any official announcement from ITV about where the dating show will be filmed.

Earlier this month, but before Spain lifted its UK tourist travel ban, photos were published of the famous Love Island compound in Majorca which appeared to show it would need urgent work to get it ready for filming if it was confirmed as the location.

It is due to return to TV in early June and run for eight weeks till August.

The popular show is due to return to TV from early June and run for eight weeks till August.

The villa where the show was filmed in 2019 before the start of the coronavirus pandemic is near the small town of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar in eastern Majorca.

It's been a long time coming but the wait for Love Island is almost over.

And there are already plenty of rumours swirling about who might enter the villa looking for love this summer.

The series usually begins in June and once it starts, it will be hosted by married couple Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore, who recently gave birth to their daughter.
