Mexican train offers unlimited cocktails on the journey to town of Tequila

All aboard a new Mexican train that offers unlimited tequila cocktails on your way to the birthplace of the spirit.

Known as the Jose Cuervo Express, the locomotive journeys to the town of tequila offering all kinds of alcoholic treats along the way.

Passengers will be invited to sample unlimited tequila cocktails – with experts on hand to help with any questions – and those with premium tickets can try high-end tequila served in a champagne-style flute.

There are four classes to choose from – express, premium plus, diamond and elite – and, while everyone is treated to an educational tequila tasting, it’s only those in diamond and elite who will get more expensive treats.

The cocktails, which are made with Tradicional and Jose Cuervo Especial, are served across all four classes, along with the snacks – however, those in the elite class can also choose from a line of ‘exclusive’ cocktails only available to them.

While passengers in premium plus, diamond and elite classes also have access to a bar that serves rum, vodka and whisky.

It’s worth pointing out there are two options to choose from: a sunrise voyage and a sunset train.

In terms of itinerary, the sunrise train will depart from the city of Guadalajara in Mexico before arriving in the town of Tequila, where passengers can see the La Rojena Distillery – the oldest distillery in Latin America – and can visit the Juan Beckmann Gallardo Cultural Center.

There’s also the chance to visit the stunning blue agave fields to see the jimadores (farmers who harvest agave to make tequila) in action, and enjoy a ‘colourful cultural fiesta’ before returning to Guadalajara by chartered bus.

The sunset train offers the same experience, but passengers will journey back to Guadalajara by train at sunset.

Both options are 11 hours long and begin at 9am and end at 8pm.

Tickets start from Mex$2,140 (£76) for express class and go up to Mex$3,530 (£126) each for the elite experience.

The Jose Cuervo Express has been eight months in the making and train journeys will take place every other Saturday.
