Mum reveals the best flight to book when travelling with kids

TRAVELLING can be stressful at the best of times, but travelling with kids can make it a million times harder.

But that doesn't have to be the case, as a mum has revealed the best flight to book when you go on holiday with children.

Carmen Sognonvi has travelled the world with her husband and two daughters, and she's picked up some tips and tricks for other parents along the way.

One key piece of advice she offered is booking the right flight to give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays and any hanging around – which is always good to avoid when you've got small kids.

She said that booking a flight for around 8am is the best thing to do, as being one of the first flights of the day means it's likely the plane has been waiting overnight so it won't be delayed.

And although an early start might not sound too appealing, taking a morning flight means airports are less crowded, so it's less stressful getting through the airport with small children.

Carmen told The Points Guy: "If you get that 8am flight, very often the plane was already there from overnight, so you're on and you're out right on time."

She also advised parents to only take carry on luggage where possible to save waiting around for checked bags.

Being stood for ages at the luggage carousel is the last thing your kids will want to do when they've been cooped up on a plane.

Carmen said: "It saves so much time because you don't have to wait around for the luggage and you don't have to worry about lost luggage."

A travel TV host has revealed the big mistake nearly all parents make when boarding flights with young kids.

Samantha Brown told parents they should never board the plane first when travelling with their children, instead wait in line with your regular boarding group.

While this might sound like a nightmare for parents who want to get on when it is quiet, she insists that by waiting in line, children will not have to sit in their seat on the flight for as long while others board the plane.

It also gives some hyperactive kids a bit of extra time to burn off energy in the boarding gate before being sat still for the duration of the flight.
