Passenger reveals clever trick to avoiding huge crowds at UK airport – and people are gobsmacked

A FREQUENT traveller has revealed a clever way to avoid huge crowds at a UK airport – and people are shocked.

Passenger Mike shared a video on his TikTok account mikeandeve when he was travelling through Stansted Airport.

He told his followers: "Here's a trick for people travelling through Stansted Airport.

"If you hate [big crowds], here's a life hack.

"Head towards the gates, and turn right – don't actually go back there but go down."

He then showed himself going down some escalators towards a sign that said "Quiet Zone."

Underneath the main terminal appeared to be a quieter area with lots more seats.

He also pointed out it had lots of plug sockets too, so you can charge phones and laptops.

More than 30,000 people have liked the video on TikTok, with people left gobsmacked by the secret.

One person wrote: "I’ve flown out of Stansted hundreds of times and never knew this existed."

Another person agreed: "How the hell did I not know this existed? Thank you! I get so overwhelmed in airports."

The quiet zone was added in 2019 along with a huge renovation of the seating areas, but with travel restrictions during the pandemic, many passengers may not have been aware of the new area.

One airport employee was even left stunned: "I’ve worked at Stansted for 5 years and never knew this! Must be new."

A fourth person wrote: "Took me ages to find sockets last time haha legends thank you!"

Head of Terminal Operations Linsey Miller said back in 2019:"The quiet seating area is something new we’re pleased to be able to offer.

"This is on a lower level floor with no shops or TVs and no one passing through, so it is a calmer environment for those who may find that more appealing than the busy central areas."
