Ryanair launches 10 new routes from UK – with flights to Spanish islands and Italy

RYANAIR has launched 10 new routes from it new base in Newcastle.

The budget airline will operate 19 routes in total from the airport, with more than 130 flights every week from Newcastle over the summer.

The 10 new destinations are Chania in Greece, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Krakow, Menorca, Milan, Paphos, Riga in Latvia, and Zadar in Croatia.

Ryanair has invested £152m in its new Newcastle base, creating 60 jobs.

Dan Brady, Ryanair's director of marketing, said: "Ryanair is thrilled to announce its largest Newcastle schedule that offers 130 weekly flights across 19 routes, including 10 new routes to fantastic destinations as Chania, Milan and Zadar.

"The opening of this base and introduction of these new routes from Newcastle reinforces our commitment to increasing connectivity, travel options and inbound tourism to the area as Ryanair will now offer 40 per cent more capacity than it did pre-pandemic."

Wizz Air launches new flights from Gatwick – with fares from £8.99

Currently, passengers boarding all Ryanair flights need to wear a face mask, unless they are medically exempt.

This rule is likely to be scrapped in the coming weeks, as Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary said he hopes to see the end of masks by the "end of April or May".

Other airlines have already ditched their mandatory face mask rule, including easyJet, Jet2 and Virgin Atlantic.

Earlier this month, TUI scrapped its mandatory face mask rule for passengers on flights to and from England and Northern Ireland.
