SPAIN has eased its entry requirements for unvaccinated visitors, in a huge boost to Brits with plans to visit during the Easter holidays.

Previously, only vaccinated Brits could visit Spain for tourism purposes, meaning unvaccinated Brits were still banned from entering, unless they could show proof of recovery.

However, Spain has updated its entry rules and, as of today, unvaccinated Brits can enter by showing proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to travelling, or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours prior to travelling.

The rule change will be welcomed by holidaymakers hoping to jet off over the Easter weekend.

Vaccinated Brits can enter by showing proof of vaccination, however, Spain is one of several European countries that has put an expiration date on vaccine certificates.

You must be able to prove you were fully vaccinated against Covid within the last 270 days to be considered vaccinated.

If you received your second dose more than nine months ago, you must have had a booster jab, otherwise you must follow rules for unvaccinated travellers.

Spain previously ditched the requirement for teens to be vaccinated, so kids aged between 12 and 17 will follow the same rules as unvaccinated adults.

Children under 12 are exempt from all testing rules.

Before travelling to Spain, all Brits must fill in an online Health Control Form.

Spain has relaxed a lot of its Covid restrictions in recent weeks, including its Covid testing and quarantine rules for anyone who has mild symptoms of the virus or those who are asymptomatic.

The Canary Islands – which include Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria – are operating with no Covid restrictions for the first time since the pandemic began.

The suspension of Covid restrictions means bars and restaurants are back to 100 per cent capacity both indoors and outdoors, and dancing has finally returned in clubs and discos.

Additionally, the Balearic Islands have ended most of their restrictions due to an improvement in Covid cases.

However, beach bar owners have issued a Spain holiday warning after a storm caused huge damage to resorts.

Many have said their Easter hopes have been ruined following the damage done on the back of storms over recent weeks which had already left resorts with repair bills running into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
