Spain holiday warning as Ryanair flight crew to walk out for six days this summer | The Sun

BRITS heading to Spain this summer have been warned to expect six days of flight strikes.

Ryanair cabin crew working in Spain have voted to go on strike for six days across June and July.

Spanish staff in the USO and SITCPLA unions will walk out for two three-day strikes.

This will take place from June 24 to June 26 and June 30 to July 2.

USO’s general secretary of the Ryanair section Lidia Arasanz, said, according to Bloomberg: “We have to resume mobilisation so that the reality of our situation is known and Ryanair is forced to abide by basic labour laws.”

While UK Ryanair crew have not voted to strike, it will affect the thousands of Brits hoping to head to Spain this summer.

However, a Ryanair spokesperson said they didn't expect "widespread disruption" this summer.

They said: “Ryanair has negotiated collective agreements covering 90 per cent of our people across Europe.

"In recent months we have been negotiating improvements to those agreements as we work through the Covid recovery phase.

"Those negotiations are going well and we do not expect widespread disruption this summer.”

It's not just Spain where Ryanair crew could walk out.

SITCPLA and Spanish union USO have joined with organisations in France, Portugal, Italy and Belgium, threatening more walkouts across Europe.

And baggage handlers at Blue Handling are threatening strike action due to pay cuts, which will affect hundreds of flights- including Ryanair flights – if it goes ahead.

The potential chaos is likely to result in even more fears for Brits who have seen thousands of flights cancelled in recent months.

Not only that, but huge airport queues have also been causing problems all year, with problems including lack of staff, Covid shortages and a slow recruitment drive.
