Sunbed wars take bizarre twist as desperate Brits lay towels on GROUND at 5am to reserve chairs which come out at 9am | The Sun

MORE tourists have been exposed for very extreme tactics to make sure they get a sun lounger on holiday.

Brits have resorted to lying their towels on the ground at 5am – even though they can't reserve the sunbeds until 9am – to make sure they are first in line.

Mum Rebekah, who was on holiday in Majorca with her husband and two kids, revealed the funny moment at the resort.

In a video, posted to Instagram, she said: "Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the British efforts from this year’s annual ‘Sun-bed Showdown’.

"More tactical, skilled and hated than ANY sports team in the world…

"In this example sunbeds aren’t unlocked until 9am.

"Cue the mass gathering of towels from as early as 5am to gain a prime spot round the pool and if you’re really lucky grab a parasol.

"The more dedicated of the team even stake out on these towels until unlock time. No towel down by 7am no poolside space for your family."

She joked it was a "British hybrid version of musical chairs meets the Hunger Games".

Rebekah toldthe Metro that people then stood waiting around the loungers from 8am, and didn't blame the hotel staff but blamed Brits for behaving badly.

Other videos have captured similar scenes this summer, with this one from last month showing holidaymakers clashing at 6am for the best beds.
