The best European Christmas markets to visit during the festive season this year, including Berlin, Vienna & Lisbon

THERE'S nothing like a Christmas market to get you into the festive spirit – but choosing the best one to visit is not easy.

To help you decide, we've rounded up the best deals to countries across Europe to explore this Christmas.

Top travel companies have already started to release Christmas market breaks for winter 2021, including Jet2, EasyJet and Newmarket Holidays.

There are breaks to some of the most popular festive destinations, including Krakow, Berlin, Cologne and Copenhagen.

The markets, with their brightly decorated wooden huts, carol singers and stalls filled with local food and drink, are popular with Brits during the seasonal period.

One of the biggest travel names to release Christmas market breaks for winter is Jet2Citybreaks.

Their trips are available from November, and depart from seven UK airports to eight destinations, including Lisbon for the first time.

Speaking to TravelWeekly, Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: "People missed out on the opportunity to visit Europe’s most magical Christmas market destinations last year, so we’re delighted that these popular trips are back again for 2021."

Brits will have to wait until April 12 to hear an official announcement on foreign holidays, but if restrictions on them lift, it is expected to be no earlier than May 17, and more likely to be June 21.

As a result, hundreds of thousands of Brit are hoping to head off on a well-deserved holiday abroad later in the year.
