The Bottle & Glass Inn near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, review

A Grade II-listed thatched pub in the small village of Binfield Heath.

Read on to find out what the rooms were like, how great the food is and what there is to do nearby.

Where is The Bottle & Glass Inn?

The Bottle & Glass Inn is in the middle of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It's about a ten-minute drive from Henley-on-Thames, which has a train station – although there is parking at the inn, if you'd rather drive.

What is The Bottle & Glass Inn like?

It has a relaxed, friendly pub vibe but with upmarket restaurant food.

The main pub was refurbished in 2017 and the swanky bedrooms added in 2021.

It ticks all the boxes for a great countryside pub with rooms – I've already tipped off friends and family who live nearby.

What is there to do at The Bottle & Glass Inn?

Bring your walking boots, as it is a lovely part of the world to stroll in.

We encountered deer, horses and red kites on our five-mile loop through the woodland and deer park.

Or you can wander three miles to the inn’s sister pub, The Hart Street Tavern in Henley, which has equally delicious grub and live jazz evenings at the weekend.

If you want to take a flavour of Oxfordshire home with you, the inn sells locally distilled gins.

What is there to eat and drink at The Bottle & Glass Inn?

There is an open-sided barn in the garden which has a massive fire pit, delivers draft beer and serves burgers and pizzas from a wood-fired oven.

There is also coffee, pastries and local farm shop food.

The restaurant inside the pub is the real standout, though, showing off local produce to an exceptional standard.

It was packed when we visited, with people having travelled from far and wide to tuck into hearty dishes such as partridge wellington and beer-battered haddock made with Loddon, a local brew.

What are the rooms like at The Bottle & Glass Inn?

There are only three rooms at this cosy inn, all to the standard of a top-end hotel.

Expect furniture in soft pastel shades, massive king-size beds and smart TVs that can stream your devices.

Each luxury en-suite features a free-standing roll-top bath and Bramley toiletries.

How much is The Bottle & Glass Inn?

One night’s B&B at the Bottle & Glass Inn costs from £120, based on two sharing. See bottleandglassinn.com or call 01491 412 625.

Is The Bottle & Glass Inn family-friendly?

All bedrooms are doubles, so it's probably not the best choice for families with little ones.
