The country with beer so good it’s been declared a world treasure – and it’s only an hour from the UK | The Sun

DRINKING is one of the most popular ways holidaymakers unwind while they're away.

Luckily for us, one of the best places to sample beer in the world is just over an hour away from the UK by plane, with flights less than £90 return.

Back in 2016, Belgium's beer was declared a "treasure of humanity" by heritage agency UNESCO.

They state that the country's tipple has an "integral role in social and culinary life".

There are plenty of stunning places where it can be sampled too.

Bruges is arguably one of the country's best places to try beer, with hundreds of bars selling loads of the nation's best-loved brews.

The country's second largest city, famous for its diamonds, also has well-stocked bars.

There are tons of places to sample the dizzying local delights.

One of the best places to sample them is Bier Central (De Keyserlei 25), where the 120-page ‘Beer Cyclodpedia’ offers over 100 different concoctions.

Flights to Antwerp are around £120 return from London City airport.

Meanwhile, these are the top five cheapest holiday destinations for cheap beers.

And these are the top 10 beers and where to find them around the world.
