Part of the Duke of Devonshire’s 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate, The Devonshire Fell is set in some of Yorkshire’s most stunning countryside.

Where is The Devonshire Fell?

The hotel is secluded in green, in the village of Burnsall in North Yorkshire.

The main village is a short walk down the hill or there’s the 12th Century Bolton Abbey five minutes’ drive away.

The rugged brick exterior blends in with its rural surroundings and there are plenty of windows to soak it all up from.

What is there to do at The Devonshire Fell?

Guests can take advantage of free parking at Bolton Abbey (normally £15), plus complimentary access to the spa at sister hotel The Devonshire Arms just five minutes’ drive away.

It has a pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and soothing treatment menu.

If you’re feeling tense, fork out a little extra for a Mediterranean massage, detoxifying facial or glowing body wrap. 

For shopping and restaurants, venture to the market town of Skipton, 11 miles down the road, where you’ll find tea rooms and pubs aplenty.

What is there to eat and drink at The Devonshire Fell?

The hotel’s 2AA Rosette restaurant, The Fell, offers fine dining with favourites like roast pork loin and lamb rump on the menu.

Or there’s traditional afternoon tea in the conservatory.

Make sure to grab a pre-dinner drink in the garden at the front of the hotel, where you’ll be able to sip on wine as you soak up the best views of the  rolling hills. 

For breakfast, there is a buffet of croissants, fresh fruit salad and cereals, cold meats and cheeses and a range of tasty cooked options too.

What are the rooms at The Devonshire Fell like?

The hotel has 16 rooms ranging from petite doubles to family suites, each with wonderful views and individually decorated with rich fabrics and vibrant colours.

We stayed in a Luxury King room, which was  spacious and relaxing with big windows that looked out over the fell and river.

Dogs can stay in all rooms for £10 a night per pooch.
