Hilton London Bankside, London, review

Boulevard Hotel, Blackpool

The hotel is home to Carters Champagne Bar & Grill, Frederick’s Piano Lounge & Terrace and The Harrogate Spa with 184 modern rooms.

It ticks lots of boxes – it’s central, not badly priced and has the fab spa.

Plus the staff treated us with a Yorkshire warmth.

LAST RESORT

Brits heading to holiday spot this year could find hotels & restaurants closed

There is a wonderful spa downstairs.

We booked a £110 half-day package and got a healthy lunch, a 50-minute ESPA massage and use of all the facilities (spa pool, Himalayan salt sauna, steam room, experience shower, ice fountain and a 12m indoor heated pool).

It was really quiet and friendly, with all the spa goers having a natter in the relaxation areas.

What is there to eat and drink at DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate?

Expect sophisticated dishes like seared duck breast with gnocchi and cod loin with purple sprouting broccoli at the Carter's Champagne Bar & Grill, while the Piano Lounge is more of a pub grub vibe.

The whole of Harrogate is right on your door step though so it's worth venturing out for food if you get the chance.

During the day we went to Bettys Team Rooms and in the evening ate the best tapas I’ve ever had at La Feria.

The highlights were the albondigas meatballs (£7) and patatas bravas (£6.50).

What are the rooms like at DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate?

Ours had high ceilings and large windows which let in loads of natural light.

Areas of the room are a bit “lived in” but this is a very old building.

There are modern touches too with a 49in TV, a Nespresso machine, dressing gown, slippers and Harrogate spring water.

I slept like a baby in a massive bed.

Many rooms accept well-behaved dogs too.

How much is DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate?

B&B stays start from £125 per room, per night and Spa Days are from £90pp.
