You'll be treated like a guest inside a friend's home when you dine at the inn's restaurant – and that's before you even sample the incredible food.

I practically inhaled my potted shrimp starter, before quickly tucking into my honey and soy glazed pork belly served with Bramley apple sauce, sauté potatoes and a cider gravy.

The highlight, though, had to be the dessert.

The deconstructed white chocolate cheesecake served with honeycomb and chocolate soil was so delicious I was tempted to ask for seconds.

What are the rooms at The Halfway Bridge Inn like?

The eight generously sized ensuite bedrooms can be found in the inn's former stable yard – or guests can book the Shepherd's Hut that comes with a double bed, plus its own shower and toilet.

Each of the rooms holds the same appeal as a countryside cottage but still includes modern features from the glorious spa bath to the cloud-like pillows.
