The Hotel Indigo, Chester, review

This boutique hotel has a retro interior with a few modern twists that add a wow factor.

From the lavish bedrooms to a restaurant that will have meat-lovers drooling, read on to find out more about the Hotel Indigo Chester

Where is Hotel Indigo Chester?

The Hotel Indigo in the Roman city of Chester in the northwest of England, is close to all the action.

It's close to all the restaurants and shops and less than ten minutes' walking distance from Chester train station.

My only criticism is that there’s no parking on site and although the hotel provides discounts for spaces nearby, these were sometimes hard to find.

What is Hotel Indigo Chester like?

Modern but with some traditional elements that reflect the surrounding neighbourhood's captivating history.

Staff here go above and beyond and the excellent service – and little extras, like the amazing aroma wafting through the lobby – made our stay a special experience.

What is there to do at Hotel Indigo Chester?

Chester Zoo is just a 15-minute drive and a great day out for the kids.
History enthusiasts can step back into a bygone era as they wander around the Tudor-style buildings.

Or if you’re big into nature, walk along by the idyllic River Dee.

You're also about a 30-minute drive from the lively streets of Liverpool, renowned for having some of the best nightlife in the UK.

What is there to eat to and drink at Hotel Indigo Chester?

The ground floor is home to a vintage-style bar and The Forge restaurant is a meat lover’s paradise with a hearty menu of succulent steaks and venison, all displayed in a fridge that diners can choose from.

It’s not cheap – a steak alone, without any sides, is £30 – so if you’re after a more affordable option there are plenty of restaurants on Chester’s high street, a couple of minutes walk away.

What are the rooms like at Hotel Indigo Chester?

The rooms offer a perfect retreat for couples wanting to unwind.

We spent two nights in a lavish King Deluxe Suite with a balcony that has brilliant views across Chester, and a separate dressing area.
