A new boutique hotel moments away from Kensington Palace.

To find out what it's like, how chic the rooms are and what there is to eat and drink, read on.

Where is The Hux Hotel?

Right on Kensington High Street, in central London, The Hux Hotel is close to the beautiful Kensington Gardens.

The best way to get there is by train – hop on the circle line to High Street Kensington, which is a few minutes walk from the hotel, or take the central line to Queensway, which is about a ten-minute walk.

What is The Hux Hotel like?

The Hux has everything you want in a London hotel – great rooms, a fantastic location and a unique atmosphere.

Walls are brightly coloured, there's hanging plants and a menagerie of taxidermy animals.

Hux owner Ben Patrick assures me the animals are ethically sourced and displayed in a respectful manner.

The quirky decorations won't be everyone's cup of tea, but they certainly make for an unforgettable stay.

What is there to do at The Hux Hotel?

With live music three nights a week – all accompanied by cocktails and sushi – the hotel isn't short for entertainment.

You're also close to Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum – all worth a visit if you've never been before.

What is there to eat and drink at The Hux Hotel?

The Hux serves a mean cocktail, but there is so much worth exploringbeyond the hotel doors too.

Kensington High Street is brimming with great restaurants.

Try Akira on the first floor of Japan House for some of the best Japanese cuisine in London.

If you want a heartier meal, Maggie Jones's does a British set menu with plenty of old-school favourites from bangers and mash to steak and chips. Two courses will set you back £22.

Just make sure you get back to the hotel to experience their live music nights and cocktails.

What are the rooms like at The Hux Hotel?

Many of the 24 rooms and four suites in the slim townhouse look out towards Hyde Park.

They are compact but have everything you need for a comfortable night.

How much is The Hux Hotel?

Small doubles start at £150, breakfast is not included. See huxhotel.com.

Is The Hux Hotel family-friendly?

It's not the most family-focused place, but they do have a Hux Suite with enough room for two adults and two children, which costs from £220 per night.

Is there access for guests with disabilities?

No
