WITH holiday costs everywhere soaring, finding an amazing trip that won't break the bank is becoming more and more difficult.

However, there's a Mediterranean destination that is not only budget friendly, but also very accessible from the UK.

Tunisia is the spot with the lowest prices on package holidays this summer, according to new data from online travel agent loveholidays.

Following an analysis of deals available on their website, Tunisia took the top place for being the most budget-friendly, with a seven-night break averaging £576 per person, including flights, hotels and transfers.

Tunisia is set to be the hottest holiday destination among Brits next year

The best time to visit is said to be between April and May or September and October when it isn't too hot, but is still warm enough to enjoy the beach.

What's more, there are fewer tourists visiting outside of the summer months, meaning it's not as busy.

You'll find plenty of activities in Tunisia, including camel trekking, hot air balloon rides and sandboarding, as well snorkelling and diving.

You could also deep dive into the rich culture of Tunisia, heading to the ancient city of Carthage, the theatre of El Djem, and the Bardo Museum in Tunis.

Meanwhile, Monastir is renowned for its endless miles of sandy beaches and ideal for a more relaxed holiday filled with sunbathing and chilling by the sea.

Elsewhere, Port El Kantaoui is also a favoured destination for tourists looking to experience the country.

Al Murray, Chief Marketing Officer of loveholidays said: “We know how much people are valuing great holidays at low prices this year – and summer getaways can still be affordable without compromising on experience.

“Our analysis revealed Tunisia as the top destination for budget-friendly breaks this summer.

"It offers a mix of food, music, dance and scenery – making it a great option for a cultural getaway."

Meanwhile, Bulgaria and Morocco turned out as the second and third most affordable destinations according to the research, offering something different for holidaymakers.

The two places offer holidaymakers a perfect mix of sun and sightseeing for an average of £636 and £701 per person respectively for a week-long getaway.
