The oldest theme park in the UK is launching a brand new ride next month | The Sun

THE UK's oldest theme park is launching a brand new ride for visitors next month.

Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight is the oldest in the country and has different themed zones, such as pirates, fairies and dinosaurs – so there's something for every child.

From next month their new ride Extinction will be open for guests, offering an immersive experience that promises to "take visitors to the edge".

It's the first-of-its-kind ride in this location – set back from a cliff-edge on the island.

The ride throws its passengers through full 360-degree vertical rotations, creating the sensation that they’re about to be catapulted off Blackgang’s cliffs and into the sea.

This means riders will have the chance to take in the breath-taking views across the Channel, while in motion, although that view may be upside down.

Alton Towers confirms new £12.5million ride to open at the theme park

The ride is going to be the largest within the park, adding to their existing array of attractions.

The resort was founded in 1843 on the Isle of Wight, where a smuggling trade once took place.

Current rides include the Cliffhanger rollercoaster, which is also right on the edge of a cliff.

There's also the Underwater Kingdom, where guests help Giuseppe the crab find his missing crab children while exploring a shipwreck.

However, Dominic Wray, Parks Director at Blackgang Chine said the new attraction was something he was very excited about.

He said: "This is not just any ride – it's a testament to Blackgang Chine's ability to innovate and provide visitors with unforgettable experiences.

"Our rich and long heritage is a result of our commitment to pushing boundaries and staying ahead of the curve."

Extinction was designed and built by Zamperla, a leading manufacturer of amusement rides based in Italy.

Zamperla has a reputation for creating some of the most innovative and exciting rides in the world.

Some of their most notable creations include the Thunderbolt, a steel roller coaster with multiple inversions located at Coney Beach in Porthcawl, Wales.

They also designed the Disk'O Coaster, a high-speed spinning ride that also tilts and lifts at Lightwater Valley in North Yorkshire.

Extinction will be open to members of the public from March 25.

Blackgang Chine celebrates its 180th anniversary this year.
