A SIMPLE clothing mistake is getting people held up at airport security when it really doesn't need to.
Getting through the airport can take long enough without extra problems causing unwanted delays.
That's why women have been advised not to wear bras with underwires whenever they fly.
The wiring in the bras can set off the airport security scanners, forcing them to spend extra time proving that they're safe to get on board the plane.
The issue was raised by Glamour magazine, who recommended softer wireless alternatives.
They wrote: "When it comes to avoiding that dreaded alarm when stepping through the airport scanner, you might want to consider skipping your underwired bras.

"Some airport scanners are sensitive to the metal underwire components in more traditionally-made supportive bras – so you might want to swap them out for a softer wireless alternative such as a T-shirt bra or bralette."
Plenty of people have experienced problems while wearing underwire bras at airports.
Some reported their issues to Travel Fashion Girl, saying it had resulted in them having some uncomfortable moments with airport security staff.
One said: “Wear a wire free or sports bra through security if you’re traveling in Europe. I’ve had to get patted down every airport the last 7 weeks.

"I didn’t pack a sports bra and I wish I had!”
Another added: “Mine set them off everywhere. I got a pat down 3 times from the same person in Ethiopia who kept moving to the next screening point. Crazy.”
Should this happen to a passenger, they are advised to tell a female member of security staff if possible, to avoid any awkward exchanges.
Travel easier said: "If you happen to set off an alarm, and you believe it can only be due to you having wire in your bra, then tell a female security officer.
"She will probably use a handheld metal detector wand initially to see where you set off the metal detector.
"She may then want to do a manual frisk and you would be well within your rights to ask for this to be carried out in a private area. You will not be asked to undress."
Bras aren't the only item of clothing that can get people held up unnecessarily at airport security gates.
Former transportation security officer Jasmain Washington explained which shoes people should avoid, in order to not get held up.
She said: "Slides/flats/Crocs are my favourite travel shoes because they are easy to slip on and off [and allow] me to move through security quicker.
"Wear socks because you’re going to have to take your shoes off and wearing socks allows you to take your shoes off beforehand to create a faster line flow."
