The UK beach that gets the least rain every year | The Sun

A TRIP to the beach in the UK can often end in a soggy mess thanks to the British weather.

But thankfully there is one beach which has the least amount of rain.

Vitamin water brand Get More Vits analysed the weather over the last 30 years using Met Office data.

The study looked at the days of rain as well as amount of rain, along with sunlight hours and temperature.

The beach that came out on top on Southend-on-Sea where you can expect the least rainfall every year.

The Essex seaside resort enjoys 42 per cent of the year in sunlight, while it has just 527mm of rain a year, making it the driest seaside resort in the country.

During the month of May, Southend can expect rain for just over seven days, the fifth lowest of anywhere, making it the perfect spot to spend the bank holiday weekends.

Southend-on-Sea became a city earlier this year, which is also home to the longest pleasure pier in the world.

Often known as just Southend, it became the UK's 70th city in honour of Sir David Amess, the MP who was killed last year.

The city became a popular seaside holiday hotspot back in the 19th century after a visit from then-princess Caroline of Brunswick – King George IV's wife.
