Every year the Sony World Photography Awards deliver on inspiring and breathtaking images – and 2022 is no different.
The national winners for this year have just been announced and the snaps are bound to give you some serious travel envy.
More than 340,000 images from 211 territories were submitted to the open competition.
Now the winners have been announced, featuring shots of incredible wildlife and stunning scenery.
With everything from Mont Saint-Michel at sunset to a lava field in Iceland, the photos capture nature at its best.
Elsewhere, there’s a fantastic shot of the Milky Way over the Gosausee Lake in the Austrian region of Salzkammergut, as well as a snap of the Northern Lights in Iceland.
One amazing picture shows a tusker elephant (a type of male elephant) named ‘Craig’ standing in front of Mount Kilimanjaro.
A few human shots also feature in the shortlist, with people taking to the waves at a surfing festival in The Hague and two sumo wrestlers attempting to trip each other up in Singapore.
