IF YOU have been to Alton Towers then you've probably been on the terrifying Oblivion rollercoaster.
But do you remember that before you used to plunge 180ft down into the ground, a voiceover would come on and say 'don't look down'?
The sound effect was scrapped back in 2004, so you might remember it if you rode the rollercoaster before then.
A theme park expert has revealed why Alton Towers decided to ditch the scary voiceover.
Tiktok user @themeparkfaulk explained that people who lived nearby complained about noise coming from the theme park.
Following their complaint, a new sound restriction was put on the park, which forced Alton Towers bosses to remove the voiceover.

The Tiktok user said: "When the ride holds you before dropping down its 180ft drop, it used to say don't look down, however the park removed this phrase from the ride.
"This was because local residents complained about the amount of noise that was coming from the ride and it was believed that the phrase was causing people to scream louder.
"So to try and keep the noise levels down at the park, they decided to remove it from the drop."
Around the same time as the sound effect was removed, a Disney World ride was closed down because it was so terrifying.
