Tourist reveals the 'game-changing' item they take when travelling Europe – and it only costs 50p | The Sun

A TOURIST has revealed the "game-changing" item that they have taken on a six-week trip through Europe – and it costs just 50p.

Eating out is one of the highlights of going away on holiday, but it can be one area in which people run into problems.

One issue can be with wobbly furniture, with one shorter table leg almost enough to spoil a good meal out.

However, Laura Morgan has come up with a very simple solution to that problem on her excursion through Europe, by carrying a door wedge in her bag at all times.

She praised the easy yet effective solution on Twitter, where she recommended others try the same.

She tweeted a picture of the doorstop and wrote: "We have been carrying one of these across Europe with us for the last six weeks. It's a game changer, lads."

Her tweet has been seen more than 670,000 times, with lots of people impressed with the clever idea.

One replied: "What a good idea. I’m forever folding napkins / bits of paper / cards / menus etc. Few things worse than a wobbly table."

Another said: "That is a great idea! I can't believe I've never thought of that. I can't even count how many times I've tried to adjust casters or wedged a napkin under a wonky table leg."

A third offered another use for the wedge as well, adding: "Handy for securing hotel room doors closed in ‘slightly dodgy’ establishments (although risky if there’s a fire)."

The wedges can be found online for 50p for a pack of two from stationery shop Ryman.

One five-star review reads: "Works well. Good value for money."

Laura is not the only person to share the unusual household item she brings on holiday with her.

Ashley Kosciolek, who writes for the Points Guy, has travelled the world, and has picked up some handy tips along the way.

Every time she goes away, she takes a roll of duct tape with her.

She told Express.co.uk: "Two years ago I was travelling home for Thanksgiving and decided to gate-check my hard-sided carry-on luggage.

“When I picked it up at the end of the flight, it was cracked in two places and had a giant hole at the top.

“Thankfully, I had a roll of duct tape inside so I patched it up for the duration of my trip."

She isn't the only person who takes tape with her on holiday either.

A mum whose name is Ayelet, runs a parenting blog, providing hints and tips she has picked up from her years working with children in various different jobs.

In a video on Instagram her child Yitzchak is seen ripping bits of tape off the window of a plane.

She explains that it is blue painter's tape, which can be bought online for as little as £1.50.

She said: "It's easy to pack and provides so much entertainment. We put pieces on the wall and window on the plane and he peeled them off. Repeat."

Meanwhile, this £6 item is a game-changer for travelling with liquids.
