You don’t have to go far either – there are plenty of options right here in the UK.

Many have already announced their dates for this year so you can get planning if you don’t live nearby.

We’ve rounded up some of the most popular options around – read on to find out where to go this winter and where to stay.

London

There are a few Christmas markets in London but the biggest one is Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

This year the market is back in town between November 18 and January 2 so you’ll have plenty of time for your festive fix.

As well as stalls selling gifts and other trinkets, there’s an ice rink, pop up restaurant and lots of fairground rides.

You’ll need to book a ticket before you go – there are free tickets during off peak times.

Its popular Frankfurt Christmas Market is returning again this year between November 4 and December 23.

You’ll find it around Victoria Square and New Street.

As you can expect from a German-style market, there’s lots of pretzels and beer, as well as gluhwein (the German version of mulled wine).

This year, it’s expected to take place between December 1 and 4.

There are some 150 stalls all laid out around the historic town centre as well as live entertainment.

Compared to bigger cities, there are limited accommodation options in Lincoln so prices are higher and there’s less availability.

However, Lastminute.com currently has rooms from £55 a night, or £27.50pp.

There’s a fairly decent number of accommodation options in the city, but it’s usually quite popular so it’s worth booking ahead.

There will be a mix of stalls selling Scottish produce as well as rides and games.
