A VIRGIN Atlantic cabin crew has shared the story behind her favourite passengers – a man who gave up his business class seat for someone in economy whose dream it was to fly up front.
Mancunian flight crew member Leah Amy shared the story of Jack and Violet in a viral post.
Leah, who now lives in Sydney, wrote about the touching moment on her Facebook page.
She said: "Of the hundreds of flights I’ve operated, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels and some Hollywood movie stars but let me tell you about my two favourite passengers EVER! Jack and Violet (I wish she was called Vera or Rose)."
"Jack and his family purchased seats in our upper class cabin for a flight home from New York, but when he got onboard, Jack went and found Violet in economy and swapped seats with her."
She added that they didn't know each other, and Jack simply did it because she was an elderly traveller.
Leah continued: "He then sat on the row of seats directly next to the economy toilets and never made a peep or asked for anything the rest of the flight.
"No fuss, no attention, literally did it out of the kindness of his own heart, no one asked him too."
She explained that 88-year-old Violet was a nurse in the UK and the US, and often travels to New York to visit her daughter.
A recent knee replacement meant she hadn't been able to see her in a while.
However, it had "always been her dream" to sit at the front of the plane, which Jack managed to make come true for her.
Leah said: "You should have seen her face, when I tucked her in her bed after supper.
"She said her daughter won’t believe her, and wanted a ‘selfie’ to prove it, but didn’t have a phone or an email address.
"These phots are getting sent in the post tomorrow!"
Images show Violet smiling with the crew, as well as with Jack's arm around her.
The post has since been shared more than 1,000 times, with Facebook users also loving the story.
Avril Brittain wrote: "Jack I take a bow to you that is so good may you be blessed."
Sophie Claire Jolly added: "What a kind man that’s such a lovely thing to do! Jack has got a lot of ladies wondering who he is (me included!)"
One person said they were like a famous Jack and Rose: "Can we also take a minute to realise that these are also the Titanic names…… literally one of my favourite films."
