CAPE Verde should be at the top of your list if you're looking for a sunny getaway during autumn.

The island country in the central Atlantic Ocean sees an average daily maximum of 30C and an average low of 24C in September and October.

Flights to the archipelago nation will take an average of six hours from the UK, with direct flights from London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

There are ten islands in Cape Verde. However, Sal and Boa Vista are the ones that attract the most tourists and boast some incredible beaches.

Sal has miles and miles of sandy beaches, great nightlife and cheap restaurants.

While Santiago is the most populated island, and it's where the capital Praia is located.

Santo Antão has been named one of the most visually impressive islands and a 'hidden gem', as few people choose to visit throughout the year.

However, there are many inhabited islands too.

For instance, Santa Luzia is uninhabited but accessible via boat ride from Sao Vincente.

Sao Vicente is a famous town in Mindelo and is known as the cultural centre of the islands.
