Watch Ryanair passenger's 'diabolical' trick for avoiding luggage fees | The Sun

A BUDGET airline passenger has revealed a ridiculous travel "hack" that he claims means he doesn't have to pay for extra luggage fees.

Forking out for excess luggage to bring all the clothes and items you want on holiday with you can really add up – but there are ways around it.

A Tiktoker known as Mike (@isthatmike03) revealed the cheeky way in which he dodged Ryanair's excess luggage fees, while also taking an entire new wardrobe with him on his holidays.

In a video, he revealed how he doesn't take any more than a small personal bag on the plane with him when he goes abroad on budget airlines.

However, Mike is known as a comedy influencer and also tagged the video as both "satire" and "comedy" so it's unclear whether or not he is being serious.

His method involves buying all the clothes he needs for his trip when he arrived at his destination.

But, instead of keeping them, leaving him massively out of pocket whenever he goes away, he simply returns them before he flies back and gets a full refund.

A close up shot of a receipt suggests that he actually put it into practice on a recent trip.

He said: "Are you going on holidays soon? Did you spend only £9.99 on your flight, and you're only allowed a small backpack.

"I've got the perfect life hack for you. Instead of struggling to pack all your cool outfits in a small backpack, don't pack any at all and just go shopping when you arrive.

"Take all the clothes to your accommodation, plan your looks and wear a fashionable outfit every single day.

"And at the end of your trip, just allow yourself a bit of time so you can take everything back and return everything."

Mike also said he uses a credit card for the hack, so it's not his money that he's using to pay for the clothes.

He added: "It works even better if you have a credit card so you don't have to spend any of your own money.

"Stop paying those airlines your hard earned money just so you can have extra luggage. It's expensive and inconvenient."

The video has been seen more than 330,000 times, with some followers excited to try Mike's method out.

One wrote: "I support this as it's like free clothing rental and generates less waste."

Another said: "This is genius."

A third added: "This is DIABOLICAL I love it."

However, others found plenty of flaws in Mike's plan.

One said: "I’m too messy, I’ll spill food and drinks all over."

Another added: "I would become emotionally attached to the clothes and buy a suitcase to bring them back with me."

There are other methods for getting more items on planes without having to pay.

Passenger @hannahdeeksabroad filmed herself getting on board a Ryanair flight with a small bag on her back hidden underneath her jacket.

She captioned the video: "Ryanair are notorious for charging their passengers if they’re over the hand luggage allowance.

"I managed to get this extra bag on board containing 4 x books, a pair of sandals and a bag of protein powder."

However, a flight attendant told Sun Online Travel that passengers often aren't as sneaky as they think they are with their baggage hacks.

They said: "Chances are, we probably even saw those people doing it at the airport, but just didn't care enough to do much about it.

"If every single passenger starts doing it, we'll likely have problems, because even with smaller bags, the weight would add up.

"But we're not at that stage yet and at the moment, it's really not as much of a big deal.

"Personally, I've been inspired – I'm all about saving money wherever I can."
