'We got catfished by our holiday home' – it looked NOTHING like the photos

A GROUP of girls were horrified when they arrived at their Airbnb and it looked nothing like the pictures online.

Tiktok user Jen, who goes by @jennialli, shared a video of herself and her mates who were staying in a holiday home in Miami during spring break.

She shared pictures of the property from the Airbnb website and compared them with what the place actually looked like.

The bedrooms were significantly smaller than they looked online, and the bathroom was darker, dingier and decorated differently.

A cupboard door was falling off its hinges, and a set of bunk beds were rickety and looked like they could easily collapse.

There was also a hole in the floor which looked like it had been caused by bugs, and the ceiling was cracked and dirty.

Jen wrote: "Watch us get catfished by our Airbnb", and captioned the video: "So do the bed bugs pay rent too?"

The video has been watched more than 800,000 times, and viewers have warned other Airbnb users to always read the reviews before spending any money.

One person wrote: "Always extra read reviews vacationers", and another put: "I read the reviews down to the last one sometimes, especially if I'm spending money on places like Airbnb".

Others warned that renters shouldn't be fooled by the photos used to advertise holiday homes, as they are often misleading.

Sebastian and Amy turned up at their Airbnb hotel in Costa Rica and found it had been abandoned two years prior.

The couple has forked out more than £1,000 for a 10-day stay over New Year's Eve, but were instead forced to pay for alternative accommodation at a higher cost.
