Where is West Wittering beach?

West Wittering is actually a village found in Sussex.

It is on a peninsula below Chichester and also neighbours East Wittering.

It is a popular destination spot for staycations, especially during summer because of it's clean sandy beach and the breath-taking coastal views.

Another positive about West Wittering beach is that it is not filled with hotels and tall buildings, so you can be in one with nature and enjoy a holiday away from the city's chaos.

A Blue Flag beach is recognised for its sustainability, accessibility, water quality and biodiversity.

There are 48 countries participating in such a scheme, all with the aim of helping the ocean environment.

Do you need to book a parking space?

Yes, you do. This change came following the Covid-19 lockdowns.

When restrictions eased, West Wittering Estate implemented a system that would see people book for a parking to have control over the number of people going to the beach and maintain social distancing as much as possible,

A spokesperson from the Estate said: "Visitor numbers have been increasing over the last decade and we believe keeping the pre-paid parking system in place is the right think to do to promote safety and protect the environment, wildlife and our local community.

"A strict daily limit on numbers parking with us will also be enforced."

To book, simply use the JustPark app or do so through the website.

The prices to park at West Wittering beach are as follows:

From November 1 till March 31

  • All day weekdays – £2.20
  • Weekdays after 3pm – £2
  • All day weekends and bank holidays – £4.40
  • Weekends and bank holidays after 3pm – £3

April and October

  • All day weekdays – £5
  • Weekdays after 3pm – £3
  • All day weekends and bank holidays – £7.50
  • Weekends and bank holidays after 3pm – £4

From May 1 till September 30

  • All day weekdays – £8.50
  • Weekdays after 3pm – £5
  • All day weekends and bank holidays – £9.50
  • Weekends and bank holidays after 3pm – £6

If you're not travelling by car or maybe want to park somewhere more in the village centre, you can always catch a bus.

Bus numbers 52 and 53 pass nearby West Wittering beach.

Are there toilets at West Wittering beach?

The beach has all the facilities that you need including toilets and showers.

There is also a beach cafe, an ice cream shop and a refreshment outlet.
