Why this Hard Rock Hotel is a hit with holidaymakers | The Sun

THE COSTA DEL SOL’S golden era radiated timeless glamour with a slick rock ’n’ roll edge.

These days, nothing matches that vibe better than the recently revamped Hard Rock Hotel Marbella.

Perched on a hill overlooking the Nueva Andalucia beach, the Hard Rock Hotel Marbella has an enviable A-list location and a stylised theme that doesn’t miss a beat.

It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the finer side of Spain’s sunshine coast with a stylish stay that hits every note.

The Hard Rock Hotel brand is known for its music memorabilia, and the curated collection here doesn’t disappoint, including a wall of gold discs, a shirt signed by the Beatles and handwritten letters from the Rolling Stones.

Local references provide the charm; the stunning lobby, for example, is designed with the colours and textures of a Spanish guitar.

Get your groove on

Guests can instantly get into the rhythm with Sound of Your Stay, a series of musical perks to keep up the tempo.

High-end record players can be requested for your room, along with a selection of classic vinyl.

Wannabe rockers can even set up their own in-room jam session with a complimentary Fender guitar plus amp and headphones.

Alternatively, just relax by the stunning Sun Society rooftop pool with Tracks, a curated playlist inspired by the surroundings.

If you want to explore, you can exchange a traditional city map for Soundtracks – a guide put together by Hard Rock’s experts and musical artists.

You’ll already be feeling like a VIP if you’ve travelled with British Airways Holidays, a tour operator whose service has made it number one in the field.

Booking couldn’t be easier thanks to low deposits, there’s a 24/7 helpline and the balance is due only 28 days before the trip for short haul or seven weeks before for long haul.

As soon as you walk into the hotel you’ll be welcomed with beautiful interiors seamlessly blending vintage and modern touches.

Musical references continue in the guest rooms, with headboards that echo pipe organs and gold trumpet wall lamps next to the bed.

It’s all pitched perfectly for guests wanting a stylish stay without pretension.

There’s impressive food from two restaurants – Sessions offers international menus as well as a unique take on Spanish cuisine, while Nu Downtown is an a la carte restaurant with Asian influences and nothing but quality ingredients.

Or if you want to venture out for dinner, the vibrant port of Puerto Banús and Marbella Old Town are nearby.

The place to party is the Eden Pool Club, with regular DJ-hosted pool parties sweeping you off the sun lounger and onto your feet.

Even the hotel’s gym sessions are fun – you can sweat off any excess with the complimentary Rock Om yoga sessions.

Marbella is well versed in classic glamour and has long been a low-key hideout for rock royalty.

From the Picasso in the lobby to the pop-culture artwork along the halls, everything works in harmony at the Hard Rock. Stay once and you’ll be screaming for an encore.

For the record

A music-filled getaway at Marbella’s Hard Rock Hotel is hard to beat, says travel writer Helen Wright…

I can’t work out what I like more; the sound of the waves or the crackle of vinyl on the in-room Crosley record player.

Both fill my ears as I sit on my balcony, enjoying the breeze with a cold beer and a hot beat. This is my perfect “me” time.

I booked on a whim after spotting a great deal with British Airways Holidays, and booking was as stress-free as it gets. The deposit was affordable and I could even pay in instalments, so it didn’t break the bank.

Then, before I knew it, I was stepping off the plane into the Andalusian sun.

Elegant and timeless, the Hard Rock Hotel Marbella exudes glamour with an understated 70s dazzle. I was so busy swooning, I almost didn’t notice I was standing next to Elvis’ guitar.

All efforts to look cool collapsed as I came over all fan-girl for a Beyoncé dress displayed in the lobby. It took an afternoon reclining beside the rooftop pool to calm me down.

It’s easy to wander into Puerto Banús for dinner, but the food at the hotel is excellent.

The tuna tartare with avocado and chilli was delectable and slightly less indulgent than the supremely tasty lobster roll I had at the pool bar for lunch.

Still, holidays are designed for excess and I had the perfect place to burn off the food – an all-afternoon pool party at the Eden Pool Club.

As the sun sets, it’s time to chill, but with music literally running through this hotel, it’s easy to find your vibe and fall into the perfect rhythm.
