A WOMAN has sparked debate online by asking her husband to cancel the holiday he has been arranging with his friends for four years.
In a post on Reddit, the 21-year-old woman explained how her husband and his friends have had to postpone their much-anticipated trip several times, but are now finally able to go.
However, the time the man and his pals are now hoping to go on away falls very close to the due date for the woman's first baby.
She has asked him to cancel the trip once again, stating that she doesn't want to go through the birth on her own.
The man however has insisted that it is not that big of a deal for him to miss the birth, and said that the birth of his son from a previous relationship, "only took an hour".
The woman wrote: "My husband (27) been planning a trip for about 4 years with some close friends, the trip kept being postponed due to some of his friends having family deaths, financial issues and unfortunate world events.

"I just want his support throughout the process, But he's making me feel really bad for asking him to postpone his trip so he can be here for his daughter and I.
"He told me that's it's honestly not that big of a deal, he said when he was at the hospital for his son from a previous relationship that the birth only took an hour and that the nurse were very supportive.
"He told me I'll be able to handle everything by myself and begged to drop the issue because he been planning this for so long and he's really excited to go.
"He even offered to pay me for all the hardships and told me women take care of children after coming home from the hospital all the time."
The woman added that her husband's friends were calling her a "wet blanket" and she said she didn't want to "spoil everyone's fun".
For the most part, other Reddit users were supportive of the woman, saying she was being far from unreasonable.
One wrote: "Husband has checked out before birth? I'm sorry, but the kid clearly has, and will have, no father. He's got a sperm donor."
Another said: "What your husband is proposing is not fair, or normal, and he shouldn’t be going.
"Expecting you to give birth and look after a newborn alone (and to be so cavalier about it) shows a stunning lack of care for you and your baby."
A third user suggested that the woman should let him leave on his trip, but to not let him come back after.
They wrote: "Pack him a nice suitcase and tell him not to come back. Any man who tells his wife that childbirth isn’t a big deal and that it doesn’t matter if he’s there or not is not a man worth having in the delivery room anyway."
Support for the husband was in short supply. However, one user did at least express some sympathy.
They said: "As someone who had significant plans ruined to world events, I feel for him.
"But absolutely 100% childbirth/pregnancy always comes first."
Another said: "He knows if he doesn't go now, he will never get to. You have already stated your concerns. Both are realistic."
