Woman left stunned by VERY rude tourists during Cornwall holiday & says visitors are worse behaved after Covid | The Sun

A WOMAN was left stunned by VERY rude tourists she encountered on holiday in Cornwall – and many have said it's become worse since Covid.

The tourist, who lives in Devon, said she spent a "lovely few days" in Cornwall.

However, shared some of her horror stories over the couple of days she was on holiday.

She wrote on Mumsnet: "[A] woman went mental at the poor young lad serving in the beer garden – insisted she had booked a table outside.

"Very politely told her that they do not take reservations for the garden, just the restaurant. Screaming ' Are you calling me a liar'. He went in, and didn't come back out."

A few days later, she said a group slammed the hotel she was staying for not serving breakfast for non-guests until 9:30am, and were 'rattling the door and moaning".

Another family were asked to leave a pub after they "started shouting" and swearing as there was no space in the beer garden.

And on their final day, the woman said she was blocked in a single road after a tourist stopped his car to look at the view – meaning she couldn't drive past.

She wrote: "It feels like people's entitlement is off the scale."

She also said: "I was in Padstow last year, and had lunch at one of the pubs in the town. Really nice young-ish woman serving [who] said I was the first person to be nice to her all day."

Lots of other people were just as stunned.

One person wrote: "When people are on holiday it’s as if their sense of entitlement goes through the roof.'

A second agreed: "I live in a tourist trap and it really has got worse in the last few years. I think because prices have rocketed so much people expect much higher levels of service/ gratitude from people who live there."

A third had their own horror story, after a tourist demanded free food after a "seagull stole theirs".

Others who work in the industry revealed their own experiences who said it had become worse.

Someone who worked in retail said: "I have noticed generally that people are getting more irate, not just in summer.I think people have forgotten how to be polite during lockdown."

Another chimed in: "I work in a museum gift shop and some people are awful, they just go straight into a tantrum if they can't get exactly what they want – it never used to be this bad."
