Woman stuns passengers with over-the-top hygiene routine on flight | The Sun

A PLANE passenger was stunned by a woman's over-the-top personal hygiene routine on a flight.

The woman, who was flying from Australia to London, shared her follow passenger's hygiene routine on Reddit.

The unnamed woman wrote about the experience in a post on Reddit.

She said: "I was on a 14-hour flight to London, and next to me was an Australian couple.

"I fell asleep, then woke up to the girl brushing her teeth from her seat?!

"She then proceeded to spit in a cup, shook the toothbrush in the air to dry it out, and kept the cup there for 4 hours.

"The toilets were three rows in front of me and were free."

She also included a photo of the incident along with her post on Reddit.

While the woman can't be seen brushing her teeth on the flight, the photo does show a small pot of water with a wooden ice lolly stick poking out.

But former flight attendant Elaine Swann has previously weighed in on the issue.

She told the Seattle Times: "If your grooming needs involve your mouth, do not perform them in your seat.

"Relegate this behaviour to the bathroom, where it belongs."

Meanwhile, travel expert Gilbert Ott, who runs the flight tips site God Save The Points has advised passengers not to use the water on planes.

He said: "I don't drink the tap water, or even use it to brush my teeth, and neither should you.

"Airplane water tanks are Petri dishes, with water that's been found to contain just about every bacteria and parasite under the sun."

This isn't the first time a passenger has been caught caring to their dental hygiene during a flight.

Back in 2020, a man divided opinions online after he was caught brushing his teeth mid-flight.

In the image, shared on Instagram, the older passenger has his headphones on while sitting in his economy seat.

Looking away from the camera, he has a toothbrush in his mouth as he cleans his teeth, and it isn't clear where or how he spat the toothpaste out afterward.

April, who posted the image, wrote: "In all my years of flying, I’ve literally never seen someone brush their damn teeth on the plane."

Some have claimed it was disgusting, while others didn't see it as a problem and said the man was just practising good hygiene.

Meanwhile, a woman was also caught flossing her teeth while waiting at the airport terminal, much to the disgust of other travellers.

Having dental work before a flight could even cause a lot of pain due to the change in air pressure, according to a flight attendant.
