Worst UK airport for delays revealed – where does your local one rank? | The Sun

BIRMINGHAM airport was the worst for flight delays for a second year running.

Departures last year were 30 minutes late on average — double the time in 2021.

Doncaster Sheffield, which shut in November, and Manchester were joint second at 29 ­minutes, Civil Aviation Authority data showed.

East Midlands was best at just 13 minutes.

A rush for holidays and lack of staff saw airports struggle most in May and June.

Rory Boland, of Which? Travel, said: “A repeat cannot be allowed.”

Last year, 10.3million people used Birmingham — the seventh busiest.

The airport said it was “running smoothly” this year — the first since 2020 not hit by Covid.

A Birmingham airport spokesman said: "The start of 2022 was devastated by Covid.

"After travel restrictions were lifted, the aviation industry fought hard to recover.
