A man whacked a fellow straphanger in the head with a cane on a Brooklyn train, authorities said.

The 30-year-old victim was sitting on a northbound A train approaching the Euclid Avenue station in Cypress Hills around 2 p.m. Feb. 24 when another man started scooting over, closer to him, according to police.

The two got into an argument over eye contact, and the suspect then walloped the other man over the head with a cane multiple times, cops said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital and treated for cuts on his face.

The suspect, who fled from the station after the attack, is shown in surveillance video released late Wednesday carrying the cane and a jacket as he passed through the turnstile.

He was still on the loose Thursday.

The incident came amid a recent surge in violence on the rails citywide.
