Babysitter 'killed a 9-month-old baby after breaking his femur in HALF and claiming boy fell'

A  BABYSITTER broke the thighbone of an infant that ultimately caused his death and claimed that the baby fell.

Dehaven Johnson, 28, was babysitting nine-month-old Jelani Williams in Sandy Springs in Georgia on March 31 after his mother dropped him off before heading to a club.

Williams was later found unresponsive at Johnson’s apartment and was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Doctors told the police that the baby’s femur was broken in half and that he had a contusion on his forehead and bruises on his back, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Johnson told the police that he called 911 when Williams was choking on baby formula and had trouble breathing, but he started changing his narrative after knowing that the baby’s femur was broken.

He told the police that the boy “could have” fallen while standing or from a futon.

“Based on my training knowledge and experience, an injury of this magnitude could not have happened from any of Johnson’s proposed ways,” an investigator said in the warrant, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

On April 1, Johnson was arrested for murder, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children.

He is now held without bond at Fulton County Jail.

An online fundraiser page was launched on Friday to raise money to support Jelani’s mother with living expenses and memorial services.

“Jelani was taken too soon in his life at the hands of his babysitter. Jelani was a happy little one and the center of his family. He made a big impact on so many in just the little time he was here with us,” the go fund me page read.

At least one in seven children were victims of child abuse or neglect in 2020, according to the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cited by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
