Brian Laundrie is 'secretly communicating with his parents through their lawyer', ex-FBI agent believes

GABBY Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie is "loosely" contacting his parents through the family attorney and will be found alive by cops, an ex-FBI agent says.

Laundrie, 23, has yet to be found by law enforcement – more than three weeks after he was first reported missing by his parents.

When quizzed by NewsNationNow journalist Brian Entin, Coffindaffer said: "Yes, although very loosely through the attorney."

It is not known if Laundrie has spoken to his parents through the lawyer after he was reported missing.

The agent thinks cops will find Laundrie alive but doesn't think it will be soon.

She said: "I believe he’s going to be able to hide in his surroundings. I think he’s a learned outdoorsman and survivalist and because of that I think he will be able to stay out of law enforcement’s grasp for a while.”

Coffindaffer is not the only former FBI agent to think cops will find Gabby’s fiancé alive.

Maureen O’Connell told Fox News Thursday: “I have a feeling that [Laundrie] is going to be found and he is going to be found alive.

“All the information that’s been coming in for weeks now, as you layer it upon yourself, you can start to see all these things coming to fruition.”

She said the case is “filled with one wild goose chase after another”.

And, ex Marshal Lenny DePaul thinks Laundrie is “sleeping with one eye open” as cops try to locate the fugitive.

He told the New York Post: “I personally think he could be anywhere. It doesn’t matter. He’s gonna mess up. He’s going to make a mistake.”

Laundrie was reported missing on September 17 – days after allegedly telling his parents that he was going for a hike in the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota, Florida.

'HE'S GONNA MESS UP'

But, Bertolino revealed that Laundrie’s parents gave the incorrect date for the "hike".

The 23-year-old left on September 13, rather than September 14 as originally shared.

Bertolino told WFLA: "The Laundries were basing the date Brian left on their recollection of certain events.”

After consulting with the FBI and confirming the day Brian’s Mustang was found and returned to the Laundries’ home, Bertolino wrote, “We now believe the day Brian left to hike in the preserve was Monday, September 13."

Detectives continue to scour the Carlton Reserve while Dog the Bounty Hunter investigates the Fort de Soto campground.

It’s reported that the Laundrie family stayed at the campsite on September 6 – days after he returned to the state.

The reality TV star, real name Duane Chapman, said the search is becoming "more dangerous" adding that he's handed over evidence for DNA testing.

'DANGEROUS' SEARCH

On Sunday, a spokesperson for his team told Newsweek: "Tracking a fugitive is a marathon, not a sprint.

"We are continuing to search for Brian Laundrie. The longer he is on the run, the more dangerous this becomes."

Authorities have responded to a dozen alleged sightings of the fugitive in North Carolina, near the Appalachian Trail.

A Haywood County Sheriff's Office said tipsters have been contacting cops in their droves claiming to have seen Laundrie, Today reports.

Engineer Dennis Davis said he's convinced that he spotted a man who looked like Laundrie on October 2.

He told a 911 dispatcher: “I’m telling you, it was him. He was talking wild. He said that his girlfriend left him and he had to go out to California to see her.

“He was acting funny. And I wasn’t sure what he looked like. And then … I went and parked and pulled up the photographs of him. And I’m 99.99 per cent sure that was him.”

There have been alleged sightings in other parts of Florida, Canada, and Mexico. Most potential leads have led to dead ends.

'COME FORWARD'

Laundrie’s sister Cassie has begged the fugitive to “come forward” and urged him to “get us out of this horrible mess”.

In an interview with Good Morning America, she said: "I really wish he had come to me first that day with the van because I don't know we'd be here.

"I worry about him. I hope he's ok and then I'm angry and I don't know what to think.

"I'd tell my brother to just come forward and get us out of this horrible mess."

Cassie also urged her parents to “come clean” if they helped her brother after Gabby’s death.

She said: “I don't know if my parents are involved. I think if they are, they should come clean.”

Cassie told reporters and protesters outside her Florida home Monday that she’s “losing her parents”.

When asked to clarify her remarks, she said: "They're not talking to us either," followed by "if I knew, I would say, I don't know," when asked why not.
