Brit mum-of-three, 31, drowns swimming off Bermuda as grieving family try to repatriate body of 'beautiful vibrant soul' | The Sun

A BRITISH mum-of-three has drowned while on holiday in Bermuda, her devastated family have said.

The family of Amanda Chibwe, 31, are trying to repatriate the body of the "beautiful vibrant soul" after the tragic accident.

Amanda – who was known Pinky – was pulled from the water at Southlands beach in Warwick on the Caribbean island at around 4.45 pm last Friday.

She was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital hospital by ambulance but pronounced dead a short time later.

A GoFundMe page has so far received £8,582 of its £10,000 goal in the three days since it was launched.

Her sister Denia Chibwe wrote: “Today words fail me as I have tragically lost a beautiful vibrant soul, my one and only sister.

"Amanda travelled abroad on holiday and sadly drowned.

“Help came but she later died in the hospital. She has left her beautiful 3 children.

“Our wish is to have her home back to us where she belongs.

“We really would appreciate any help as I know she touched so many lives with her kindness, laughter, and her caring soul.”

Many who wrote comments expressed their shock and grief at the death and offered words of comfort to the Chibwe family.

“Amanda, you were such a genuine girl, I have nothing bad to say about you," read one.

"Realest of many, very sweet with a loving spirit, I will remember you always like this,” read one.

“Condolences to your family and friends especially.”

Bermuda police say that they are not treating her death as suspicious.

Her death comes as British cruise ship passenger died while snorkelling on holiday with his wife and daughter in the Caribbean.

Andrew Evans, 60, from Wales, arrived in St Kitts on Monday with his family on the P&O cruise ship Britannia.

They were on a 14-day cruise from Barbados to Southampton.

He got into difficulty while snorkelling with his wife and daughter as part of a group activity at Peninsular Cove.
